- Hotel California
This is a song produced by Bill Szymczyk in Asylum label. It was released on February 22nd, 1977. This is a song that is know by many people where it is among the best song with great lyrics in the world. It is known by its hard solo guitar which seems too hard for a live interpretation in many live concerts. This song was composed 40 years ago but it is still adorable in many people’s ears.
2. Desperado
This is a sad lament song about the lonely life. It was released on the first album of the Eagles which made an unexpected success of their time. This is a song which was covered by various famous singers including Lind Ronstadt in 1973 and gave it a raise in the world of music.
3. Take IT Easy
This is a song which was written by two members of the Eagles, Jackson Browne and Glenn Frey. Jackson had composed the song before but didn’t complete it. When Frey heard it, he encouraged Jackson to continue by also contributing with some ideas. This was the Eagles first solo song which made a hit.
4. The Last Resort
This is a song written by Don Henley in 1976. He included the idea that the earth is destroyed by the presence of man. This song is more political than entertainment where he described how Americans destroyed their lands to satisfy what he called their needs. He also said about how people are satisfying their stomachs in the name of God, which can be related to today’s world even if it is a song written on what was happening during his time.
5. Take It to the Limit
This is a song sang by the Eagles bassist, Randy Meisner. He was one of the important elements of the band in terms of creating innovation and uniqueness in their songs. However, this song became one of the reasons why he left the Eagles. He was shy and didn’t like singing in concerts. He had sung this song in the studio which obliged him to also sing it in concerts. His refusal to sing the song in the concerts, has been one of the reasons which triggered his departure from the Eagle in 1977
6. One of These Nights
This was a song produced by Bill Szymczyk in 1975. It was after leaving producer Glyn Johns where they accused him of limiting their talents as he oversaw the band as a country-rock band. This song spent a long time on the billboard as a number one to the hot 100 of the time, which gave it much fame and to the band as one of the rock band of all the time.
7. Lyin’ Eyes
This is a song written by two members of the Eagles band, Don Henley and Glenn Frey. It reached the 2nd place on the billboard and helped the Eagles to become more popular and successful in 1976.
8. I can’t Tell You Why
This is a song written by Timothy B. Schmit in 1979. Timothy had not yet joined the Eagles but he joined Don Henley and Glenn Rey who gave him rough ideas which perfected the song “I Can’t Tell You Why”. He later joined the Eagles after 21 years of the band’s break up in 1994.
9. Wasted Time
This song was composed by Don Henley inspired by his break up with her ex-lover Loree Rodkin, an interior designer. The lyrics focused on lamentation and regretting the time wasted with Loree Rodkin while he could have done many beautiful things instead of loving her. It was a short time before working on Hotel California.
10.Peaceful Easy Feeling
This is a song written by Jack Tempchin in 1972. It reached the 22nd on the hot 100 billboards. This boosted their fame as they were in their starting years. In return of the song, Tempchin was helped financially by the Eagles so that he can also make his future. At that time, he was a singer gigging in San Diego coffee house.
Even if we mentioned these 10 songs, there also others which played a big role in their music journey like Already Gone (1974), Witchy Woman (1972), Peaceful Easy Feeling (1972), and others. The Eagles band is still active from 2017 till now after some years of break.
